Anatomy of a Mall Security Case

Presented by Peter S. Everett at the 2013 NCVBA's National Conference
Sep 12, 2013

The 2013 National Crime Victim Bar Association’s National Conference, Civil Actions for Criminal Acts was held on September 9-11th in Phoenix, Arizona. On September 10th, Peter S. Everett presented “Anatomy of a Mall Security Case.”

Malls are a world unto themselves--as are mall security cases. Peter explored how to establish a legal duty to protect patrons, how to investigate a mall security case, as well as how to conduct relentless discovery and how to win. Many of the techniques, however, can help counsel for victims in any premises security case.

The 2013 NCVBA conference was held in conjunction with the National Center for Victims of Crime’s National Conference, and brought together about 1,000 civil attorneys, victim advocates, criminal justice professionals and law enforcement officers to share their knowledge and experience across disciplines.
