A Dedicated Team of Attorneys Protecting People

The Virginia Personal Injury Litigation Group is centered on representing individuals - real people, not corporations or insurance companies - who have been injured through the reckless, careless or intentional actions of others.

Our Philosophy

We limit the number of cases we take so that we may devote substantial resources, thought and attention to each of our personal injury cases. Several of our lawyers previously practiced in very large law firms, and we strive to provide extraordinary legal assistance to individuals who could never afford to pay the rates large law firm demand. In effect, we level the playing field by taking the “corporate law firm” approach used by large firms to defend corporate clients and using it to represent our personal injury clients in fighting insurance companies and corporations for civil justice. In today’s business-first political climate, the basic rights of individuals are rapidly losing ground to the prerogatives of big business and the companies that insure them. By making your fight our fight, we partner with our personal injury clients to make justice a reality.

The Sooner the Better: Retain a Personal Injury Lawyer Before Precious Time is Lost

In the wake of an injury--from any source--a motor vehicle accident, an unsafe product, a dangerous drug or a dangerous condition of land--many victims and their families don't know where to turn for the critical legal advice they'll need to guide them through what can be an intimidating and confusing time. Choices injured persons and their families make in the days immediately following an injury or wrongful death can have a lasting impact on their rights to compensation for damages and injuries. Defendants have insurance companies to protect them--you should as well. Our attorneys have assisted injured individuals and their families in a variety of areas, including those described below.

Our Personal Injury Practice:

Car Accidents, Truck Accidents and Commercial Motor Vehicle Collisions

Our lawyers spend a great deal of time representing persons seriously injured in car accidents, especially in crashes involving death or serious personal injury, in drunk driving accidents and accidents caused by truck drivers and other commercial vehicles.

Catastrophic motor vehicle collisions require an immediate investigative response to establish liability, as well as counsel well-versed in identifying and establishing liability issues and damages. Our firm employs accident reconstruction experts as quickly as possible after a major collision to secure evidence, uses videographers to produce "Day in the Life" films in catastrophic injury cases and relies upon Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and other means to hold trucking companies and others responsible for poor hiring practices and for keeping incompetent drivers. We have been particularly successful in finding and establishing insurance coverage where other lawyers might have overlooked polices or not pursued creative coverage arguments.

Because tractor trailers and truck drivers are highly regulated, cases involving truck accidents requires experienced attorneys in what has become a complex area of personal injury law. A person injured or the family of a victim killed as a result of a truck accident needs lawyers with knowledge and experience navigating the web of federal regulations that govern trucking operations.

Brain Injury

Representing survivors of traumatic brain injury is an integral part of our personal injury practice. Our experience in representing brain injury victims helps us to understand the cognitive, physical and emotional problems stemming from such injuries, to work with family members, friends and health care providers to advocate on behalf of our TBI clients and to help our clients though the civil justice system.

We have represented brain injury survivors and their families in a variety of different cases, with a special focus on motor vehicle collisions involving 18 wheel tractor trailers and other commercial vehicles, including tankers, trash trucks and dump trucks. Our firm also had the privilege of representing a courageous young boy catastrophically brain injured by a defective product, and has represented TBI victims injured in on and off road bicycle accidents, and in negligent security cases against commercial landowners, such as apartments, hotels, and shopping malls. Our firm has undertaken brain injury cases arising from accidents and incidents throughout Northern Virginia, including Fairfax, Arlington, Prince William, Fauquier and Clarke Counties, as well as in Maryland, California and the District of Columbia.

Unsafe Products [or Product Safety or Product Liability] and Workplace Safety

Thousands of Americans are injured or killed by unsafe, dangerous or defective products each year. Victims of these products need a legal team of trial lawyers well versed in the intricate legal aspects of product liability cases, who can explain complex issues clearly to a jury, and who can match the resources and firepower of manufacturers who defend their products against attack.

Our firm has represented individuals injured by unsafe products, in settings as diverse as the home, a special needs school, the workplace and aircraft. Rob Stoney, our partner in charge of product liability cases, defended such cases for major manufacturers in the past, and uses that valuable experience in helping victims of unsafe products fight for justice. Sexual Assault Victims in Schools and Businesses

Our firm has been recognized as a national leader in representing victims of violent crimes.

First, we have assisted crime victims in situations where security measures proved inadequate. We have represented individuals victimized at shopping malls, hotels, apartment complexes and other premises

Second, we represent employees or customers of businesses sexually and physically assaulted by combative, rogue or unsavory employees.

Recovering fair compensation in this area is particularly challenging and requires a thorough knowledge of unusual legal principles, in-depth investigative work, and a unique understanding of the emotional trauma associated with the difficulties crime victims must endure.

Dangerous Conditions in Land and Other Cases

We represent people seriously injured by defective conditions in land or buildings. For example we have represented bicyclists injured because of defective highway or bike trail conditions, sued VDOT for poor road maintenance that led to a serious crash, and sued a developer who left a dangerous roadway condition into which a bicyclist road.

Children’s Legal Rights

In a variety of cases, we have championed the legal rights of children seriously injured as result of the careless or reckless acts of others. For example, we have represented children seriously injured cases involving product safety, sexual assault, bike accidents, trucking accidents and dangerous premises.
